Not much is known to us about the aboriginal artist that goes by the name of Didjeridoof. He is a very reserved man and does not like to give out his personal history. From what he does tell us is that he has a maternal grandfather who immigrated to Australia from the island of Malta in the early part of the 20th century. He came to Australia to ease the population growth that was becoming a problem on his native island. He signed on to work in the lead mines, even though he had wanted to be a farmer. He eventually met an aboriginal woman and married. He bought a plot of land and turned it into a farm. It was here where Didjeridoof was born and raised. Didjeridoof says that he began painting Doofs into his traditional aboriginal compositions after he encountered the Doof image on a walkabout through his fields of lima beans and zucchini.
