Ledger Drawings

In the fall of 1999, while in San Francisco checking out gallery openings, I found and retrieved a used ledger book from a waste pile on the sidewalk. With a goofy grin I carried home my treasure. The yellow color of the pages mixed with the ruled lines and the blue of the writer's pen appealed to my aesthetic. I added watercolor drawings of monsters, animals, clowns, dragons and racecars while watching T.V. in order to give it a stream of consciousness flow.

Griffin, watercolor on ledgerpaper, 11 x 13.5", 1999.
